Frequencies available for use within the UHF TV Broadcasting Bands - 470 to 854MHz are called 'In band' as they are shared on a secondary basis, with TV broadcasting. This band is divided into multiple sets of frequencies, called blocks for charging purposes. Each block of frequencies corresponds to the 8MHz of spectrum allocated to each television channel. Users may request as many frequencies as are technically feasible within each block. JFMG checks the area in question for TV transmitters.
If there is a transmitter in your area, we won’t issue a licence unless we are certain that you can operate without causing interference nearby viewers, and that the local transmitters won’t interfere with you. Availability varies across the UK. Users should note that the use of this spectrum for programme making is likely to change as a result of the UK's switch from Analogue to Digital Television. Visit our News section for the latest developments.
Please note frequencies within 470 - 854 MHz will be affected by digital switchover. Visit our DDR and Digital TV Switchover news page for all of the latest developments.
