Who are we?
Philip Harris, MIET – Principal Engineer
Philip joined JFMG at its inception in 1997 initially as a coordinator. As a Principal Engineer he now focuses primarily on the planning and deployment of enhancements to our website and back-office software, as well as maintaining our complex database system.
Philip led the design and implementation of our online booking tools and continues to work hard to expand the facilities available via the web. He was also a pivotal figure in the implementation of our 2012 Wireless Microphone check.
Prior to joining JFMG, Philip spent 15 years as an engineer with manufacturers of TV studio equipment, after which he moved to ITV.
When Philip isn’t working for JFMG he enjoys photography.
Simon Eley, CEng MIET – Principal Engineer
Simon joined JFMG in April 2002 as a Principal Engineer. He works with Ofcom and industry on strategic radio issues on a regular basis and also works to improve our assignment tools and methods.
He is responsible for the technical content of our consultation responses and represents PMSE spectrum interests in various forums. Simon also supports planning of major events and was part of the team who managed the spectrum coordination for the Grand Depart of Le Tour in 2007.
Prior to joining JFMG Simon worked for BBC Transmission as a project engineer. He then moved to the Radiocommunications Agency where he planned frequencies for RSL radio stations. In 1997 he took up the first programme making technical post within the RA. He has also worked for Crown Castle/National Grid Wireless planning the digital television network.
In his spare time Simon’s interests include modern history and sound design at his local amateur theatre.
Craig Puddephatt – Infrastructure Architect
Craig joined JFMG in May 1999 as a coordinator. However his increasing responsibilities for our IT systems resulted in him taking on the role of Infrastructure Architect in 2007.
Craig is responsible for all IT planning and support and was part of the team responsible for delivering our online booking tools. He also looks after our website and was solely responsible for delivering our new site in January. Craig also provides additional support as a coordinator and looks after major events when necessary. He was part of the team that looked after the 2007 Tour de France.
Prior to joining JFMG Craig worked for various TV and Film facilities hire companies.
Craig’s interests include sport and music. He has a BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator.
