Who are we?
Paul Gill, MIET – Managing Director
Paul started working at JFMG in 1997 on the very first day of its inception and was part of the team that successfully bid for the contract with the Radiocommunications Agency back in 1996.
Paul states his aim as Managing Director is to keep all our spectrum users, customers, staff and Directors in-tune and free from interference. He first started at JFMG as a Senior Coordinator and rose through the ranks to Principal Engineer, Contract Manager, and Technology Director before finally landing the position of MD in 2005.
Paul believes that working at JFMG has provided him with a most enjoyable opportunity to meet face-to-face and to support an extremely diverse range of spectrum users. Not just facilitating expert professional users at major events and venues but also helping community users including schools and civic theatres in what can often be a rather bewildering field.
Prior to joining JFMG Paul spent 16 years at the BBC in various guises, including an engineering specialist in TV broadcasting antenna and transmitter combining systems and Ancillary Frequency Manager – where he managed the use of frequencies allocated to the BBC.
Away from JFMG Paul is a keen runner, completing both the 2007 London and Nottingham Marathons. He also enjoys spending time in his metal working workshop.
Amanda Houchen – Strategy & Communications Manager
Amanda joined JFMG in July 2006 as Strategy and Communications Manager. Her role in this capacity is to focus on improving our communications, both internal and external, and to work with Paul to determine the company strategy for the future.
She is responsible for all external communications, including the JFMG Newsletter, Email updates, and our “Easy guides” that aim to help customers understand Ofcom documents. She has also authored many JFMG consultation responses and organised several of our industry events.
Prior to joining JFMG, Amanda initially worked at the Radiocommunications Agency in a number of roles, finally specialising in Internal Communications. In 2003 Amanda joined Ofcom as PMSE Policy Advisor where she developed a thorough grounding of the programme making industry through her close working relationship with JFMG.
Away from JFMG Amanda has a keen interest in cooking, following cricket, at both international and county level, and travel. She has a Dual Hons Degree in International History and Philosophy from Keele University.
Jo
North - Communications Manager (maternity cover)
Jo joined JFMG in March 2010 as Communications
Manager and is covering for Amanda Houchen whilst she is on
maternity leave. In this role Jo looks after all
company communications, both internal and external facing.
Prior to joining JFMG, Jo was at Accenture for nine years, initially in its Consulting practice and then its UK Marketing & Communications team. She worked across the full Marketing mix which included three years as UK Advertising Manager. Her most recent role was as Communications and High Technology Marketing Manager where she helped Accenture build relationships with its clients at several prestigious communications companies. Jo also worked on some high profile campaigns including London's bid to host the Olympic Games in 2012.
Away from JFMG, you will find Jo undertaking British Military Fitness in her local park. She also enjoys art, the theatre, literature and travel. Jo has a Dual Hons Degree in American Studies and English from Keele University and a Chartered Institute of Marketing Professional Diploma.
