Our Licences
Under UK law (Wireless Telegraphy Act 2006), a licence is required for "Programme Making and Special Events" (PMSE). This includes uses of wireless microphones, talk back (walkie-talkies) and production services in theatrical performances, radio and television programmes, conferences, places of worship and so on, but only when directly associated with the performance or event. Radios used for general security, catering, crowd control and so on, need a licence issued by Ofcom. What happens if you don't get a licence?
Most frequencies are coordinated to avoid interference. If you use unlicensed equipment you could cause interference to licensed users. It makes financial sense to ensure that you are properly licensed. If you use radio equipment without a licence, you could be fined up to £5000 and/or serve a six-month prison sentence. Additionally, the court may order the radio equipment to be seized.
Please contact us or Ofcom if you are in any doubt about your legal obligations.
